Macro-regional strategies are relatively new and innovative but less known forms of EU policy-making. They aim to bring closer connected geographical areas to strenghten cooperation by addressing today’s complex economic and societal challenges. Today there are four macro-regional EU strategies: the Baltic Sea (EUSBSR), the Danube (EUSDR), the Adriatic-Ionian (EUSAIR) and the Alpine (EUSALP). Due to its special geographical position Slovenia is part of three macro-regional strategies!
Even if they operate under different conditions civil society organisations can and should have a crucial role in the successful implementation of EU macro-regional strategies. In order to make it happen a new instrument, a place-based macro-regional civil strategy is under preparation.
As part of this creative process European House Budapest and Zavod Nefiks (Stičišče Središče) is pleased to invite you to a discussion cafe where we will exchange ideas about the concept and draft text of the proposed civil strategy. In doing so our informal discussion will address issues as citizen’s involvement in EU policy-making processes, regional cooperation, EU enlargement and the 2024 European Parliamentary elections.
Participants will be offered refreshments.
